A 64-year-old resident of the RM of Springfield is facing numerous firearms and child pornography-related charges after being arrested by Oakbank RCMP this past week.
On June 5, 2014, Oakbank RCMP received a report of a man covertly recording his young family members and encouraging sexual acts. An investigation was launched immediately.
Investigation showed that the 64-year-old resident of the RM of Springfield had set up a recording device in the washroom of his home. He had made sexually explicit material available to a child and possessed child pornography. While executing the search warrant, police also discovered unsafely stored firearms.
RCMP report that the accused was arrested on June 11, 2014 and is facing numerous charges including making child pornography-related charges and numerous firearms-related charges.
Police say that the name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victims. He will be appearing in Beausejour Provincial Court on September 2, 2014.
The Oakbank RCMP were assisted in this investigation by the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation Unit, the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, the Integrated Tech Crime Unit and the RM of Springfield Police Department.
