On June 25-29, 2014, RCMP officers in the Dauphin area stepped up traffic enforcement in and around the Dauphin area. This was done in conjunction with National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, Manitoba Public Insurance-sponsored Checkstops and Dauphin’s Countryfest.
Despite the heavy rains in the area, six Checkstops were conducted with approximately 2,700 vehicles being stopped. RCMP officers also performed roving patrols throughout the area.
Traffic enforcement resulted in 201 speeding charges, 13 failing to wear seatbelt charges, 2 operating a hand held device charges, 9 invalid registration/insurance charges, 6 driving without a valid licence charges, 2 driving while suspended charges, 33 other traffic violation charges, 1 careless driving charge, 1 driving while disqualified charge, and 4 charges under the Liquor and Gaming Control Act.
