On July 1, 2014, Steinbach RCMP attended to A.D. Penner Park in response to a complaint of a fire.

RCMP report that the Steinbach Fire Department had extinguished a number of garbage cans that were set on fire at both washroom sites in the park. Damage was minimal but could have been severe if not promptly extinguished.

Police believe that the suspects were riding bicycles and had left the scene prior to emergency services attending.
