On May 16, 2009 at 4:00p.m. Elphinstone RCMP Detachment responded to a complaint of a home invasion at a Keeseekoowenin First Nation residence.
An intoxicated man forced his way into the residence after kicking in a door. He then proceeded to assault the home owner and his common-law wife with a lamp. The homeowner sustained a broken hand attempting to defend himself, while his common-law partner suffered lacerations to her arm. The suspect then located his girlfriend in the residence and physically assaulted her.
All three victims received medical treatment for minor injuries and were released.
24 year-old Benjamin Grant Bone of Keesekoowenin First Nation was arrested and remanded in custody. He has been charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon, two counts of assault causing bodily harm and mischief under $5000.
At the time of the incident, the accused had been at large on a recognizance, awaiting sentencing on several unrelated charges. He has also been charged with two counts of failing to comply with conditions of this recognizance.
Elphinstone RCMP continue to investigate.
