On July 16, 2014, at approximately 4:45pm, Killarney RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Government Road, approximately two and a half kilometres south of Baldur, Manitoba.

Police say that a gravel truck was traveling northbound, slowing down to make a right turn. A pickup truck behind the gravel truck attempted to pass on the right, striking the gravel truck and rolling.

RCMP report that the 66-year-old male driver of the pickup truck, from Rock Lake, Manitoba, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 65-year-old male passenger from Argyle, Manitoba, was transported to Winnipeg hospital and is listed in stable condition. The 71-year-old gravel truck driver, from Argyle, Manitoba, suffered no injuries in the collision.

Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the collision and it is unconfirmed at this time if seatbelts were being worn.

A RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
