Steinbach resident Julie Loupin has announced her candidacy for Trustee in the Hanover School Division Board. Elections take place October 22 and Julie says she is ready to be a voice for students, for parents and our schools.
“I have been steadily involving myself as opportunities have been presented in the four years that I’ve been a part of this great community.” Julie has been involved with PAC (Parent Advisory Council) since moving to Steinbach at both Southwood and Stony Brook Middle Schools where her children attend. “I wanted to be included in some of the decision making and direction of the schools my children were integrated into. As a parent I desire the greatest well being of all students. Volunteering for PAC and other areas of school involvement was a way for me to have a voice, and a great transition into the School Division and the families of our community.”
Being newer to the community can bring a fresh set of eyes and ideas, on top of that Julie wants to concentrate on the basics of good education. “As a School Trustee, I would place significant importance on learning & success for all students. We have an amazing freedom to educate in our school system, one that should not be taken for granted, but should be utilized to its fullest potential. This fantastic structure of teaching exists so that all children, from every family & background can be blessed with the same experience as their neighbour; to learn, to grow, to excel, and to succeed. A positive educational experience will ensure continued success in our community, our homes, and in the lives of the next generation.”
A passion for education and a desire to see positive outcomes from our future leaders assist Julie in her drive to find solutions and strategies that will make a difference. “Growth will come if we teach well; guiding, directing & adjusting for every individual’s needs and style so that each student is able to achieve to their highest performance. To ensure we excel as a school, community and division, we will need to focus efforts and resources in the areas where the greatest benefits can be achieved. We need to consistently develop staff in all relevant areas to remain focused on our learning goals so that they are successfully implemented into the lives of every student. I believe that we cannot do this individually; we must be willing to work together.”
Julie is happily married to Warren Loupin and is raising two wonderful children; Cody (12) and Shenise (9). She is also a Realtor with Century 21 Gold Key Realty Ltd. “It would be a great privilege for me to serve my community by being a part of the Hanover School Board.”
