On July 21, Lowell Edwin Nickerson, 60, of Belleair Beach, Florida, was found guilty of two counts under the Customs Act. Nickerson was sentenced to time served (three days) and ordered to pay a criminal fine of $13,000 by a Winnipeg Provincial Court judge.
On July 19, 2014, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at the port of Winkler examined Nickerson’s vehicle. Officers located and seized an undeclared prohibited and fully loaded .22 calibre revolver from under the driver’s seat. Officers arrested Nickerson and turned him over to the CBSA Criminal Investigations Unit.
