The Steinbach Chamber of Commerce has begun final preparations for the 46th Annual Pioneer Days Parade that will take place down Steinbach’s Main Street on Friday, August 1st. Different from previous years, the parade will end at Loewen Blvd instead of Stonebridge Crossing. The route is being shortened to avoid congestion issues in the more residential area.
“We want to make sure that people know about the route change so they don’t miss out,” says Michelle Bezditny, Membership Coordinator at the Chamber, and this year’s Parade Marshall. Bezditny would also like to remind parade goers to stay outside the barrier tape and to help keep the city clean by using the recycling and garbage cans stationed along the parade route.
Southeast Helping Hands will again be collecting non-perishable food donations from spectators. People who would like to donate items are asked to make their way to the barrier tape to make it easier for volunteers to collect, keep parade entries moving and avoid large gaps between floats.
“We fully expect packed streets again this year,” says Bezditny “Despite the small change in route we are confident there will be plenty of great viewing spots for everyone.”
The parade will get underway at 10am, starting at the Steinbach Fire Hall, traveling west on Main Street before heading north on Highway 12 and wrapping up at Loewen Blvd.
