On August 6, 2014, shortly before 5:30pm, Selkirk RCMP along with area EMS and Fire responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 59, near Patricia Beach.

Initial police investigation indicates that a 2003 Honda Civic traveling south, collided head-on with a lumber truck traveling north. Investigation reveals that the driver of the Honda Civic was attempting to pass on a solid line when it was unsafe to do so.

Police say that the 30-year-old male driver of the Honda Civic was pronounced deceased on scene. The 39-year-old driver of the lumber truck was transported to local hospital in stable condition.

RCMP report that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision. An RCMP traffic analyst, along with members of Selkirk RCMP, continue to investigation.
