On August 16, 2014, at around 10pm, an officer from the Ethelbert RCMP Detachment came upon the scene of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 5, approximately 5 kilometers west of Gilbert Plains. Local fire and EMS also attended.
Police say that a Ford Tempo was located upright in the north ditch and that the vehicle had been travelling westbound prior to losing control.
The four occupants of the vehicle were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Two have since been transferred to Winnipeg hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP report that alcohol consumption and not wearing a seatbelt are considered contributing factors in the collision. The investigation continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
