On August 21, 2014, at approximately 9:30pm, Dauphin RCMP were called to a vehicle collision on Highway 20, approximately three kilometers east of Dauphin. Local fire and EMS also attended.
Early police investigation shows that an ATV driver had lost control and was lying on the roadway when he was struck by an eastbound car. The car was driven by a 45-year-old Dauphin woman.
The driver of the ATV, a 15-year-old rural Dauphin-area male, was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger in the car were injured.
Police say that alcohol consumption by the driver of the ATV is considered to be a contributing factor in the collision. The investigation continues with the assistance of an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
