On September 15, 2014, at approximately 7:45pm, Beausejour RCMP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 12, three miles south of Provincial Road 215, in the RM of Brokenhead, Manitoba.
Police say that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 12, when it entered the ditch and collided with a hydro pole.
Both occupants were extracted from the vehicle and transported to local hospital. The driver, a 42-year-old man from the RM of Brokenhead, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The passenger, a 44-year-old man from Winnipeg, was treated at the hospital and later released.
RCMP report that the cause of the collision is unknown at this time. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the collision. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
