On September 20, 2014 at approximately 8:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a call of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle at Long Plain First Nation.
Initial police investigation shows that a 31-year-old woman, from Portage la Prairie, was walking northbound on Highway 305 in Long Plain First Nation when she was struck by a vehicle. The woman was pronounced deceased on scene.
RCMP report that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this investigation.
Portage la Prairie RCMP continue the investigation along with assistance of Amaranth RCMP, RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and the RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team.
