At 81 years of age, Vicki Fleming is still an active part of the RCMP detachment in Wabowden, Manitoba. Fleming serves as a matron in the detachment, which means she is called in to guard prisoners, and she serves as the local seamstress, providing officers with uniform alterations.

The RCMP relies heavily on the skill and dedication of employees such as Fleming. Her 25 years of dedicated service to the Force was recognized by the local detachment with a luncheon, where she was presented with a plaque acknowledging her service to the public and the RCMP.
Wabowden is a northern Manitoba community, located approximately 630 kilometres north of Winnipeg off of Highway 6.
