On October 3, 2014, at about midnight, Brandon RCMP were called to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 1 and 1A near Kemnay, Manitoba.

Upon arrival, police found two damaged vehicles, one heavily damaged and the other engulfed in flames. Both vehicles were in the westbound ditch.

Police investigation revealed that a 2008 Dodge pick-up truck and a 2006 Pontiac G6 sedan were traveling east on Highway 1A at a high rate of speed. The Pontiac G6 lost control and collided with a 2010 Ford Escape traveling in the westbound lane.

The 34-year-old female driver of the Ford Escape and her passenger, a 1-year-old male infant, both from Regina SK, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 48-year-old male driver of the Pontiac G6, along with the 30-year-old male passenger, both from Brandon, were removed from the car and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 27-year-old male driver of the Dodge pickup, a Dauphin resident, was later located by police.

RCMP report that alcohol and speed are considered factors in the collision and it is unknown at this time if all of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
