MP Ted Falk and Bob Stefaniuk released a Bald Eagle back into the wild at the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre near Ile des Chenes yesterday, making this the second rehabilitated Bald Eagle released back into the wild this year.
The young male eagle, which was found unable to fly in Riverton, Manitoba, was admitted by Manitoba Conservation on August 2nd. Wildlife Haven’s staff assessed and rehabilitated the eagle back to health. The eagle was brought up to a normal weight and flight condition over the last few weeks and readied for fall migration.
Federal Member of Parliament, Ted Falk and Bob Stefaniuk, retired Mayor of the RM of Ritchot were on hand for the official release ceremony, which occurred on an 18-acre parcel of land that will one day house Wildlife Haven’s Wildlife Hospital and Education Centre. There were also several observers on hand to witness the release including a very excited group of children from a local daycare.
