On November 20, 2014, just after 4:30pm, officers from the Dauphin RCMP received a report of a dangerous driver from a concerned motorist.
Police say that a white pickup truck was reported swerving into oncoming traffic, running red lights and had nearly driven into the ditch a number of times. The truck eventually left the road and rolled on to its side on Municipal Road 147 North, just north of Dauphin.
The driver, a 36-year-old Dauphin man, was not injured in this incident, but showed signs of being impaired. He was arrested and taken to the Dauphin RCMP Detachment where a breath test showed his blood alcohol concentration to be three times the legal limit. He has been released from custody to appear in Provincial Court in Dauphin on December 16, 2014.
Report Impaired Drivers (RID) 911 is a program throughout the province of Manitoba. Through RID 911, the public can play an active role in helping to avert the tragic consequences of drunk driving. If citizens assist police by calling 911 to report what they see, then police can get more impaired drivers off the road, a national priority for the RCMP.
