On December 12, 2014 at approximately 1pm, a house fire was reported on the south end of Woodridge. Crews from both Woodridge and Sprague Fire Departments attended to battle the blaze with Sprague RCMP and EMS assisting.
Police say that the couple, who had been home at the time of the fire, made it out of the house unharmed. This was partly due to the husband noticing lots of smoke coming from the one end of his house while helping a neighbour.
RCMP report that Fire crews were able to stop the fire from consuming every room in the house, thus increasing the chance of the owners being able to recover some of their meaningful possessions from those rooms. The structure itself is considered a total write-off.
RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate the cause of the fire, but it is not being considered suspicious.
