On December 17, 2014, shortly before 7pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 311, approximately one kilometre east of Highway 12, north of Steinbach, Manitoba.
Police investigation shows that an eastbound pickup truck and a westbound car collided head-on.
Police say that the 59-year-old driver of the car, an RM of Ste. Anne woman, was deceased on scene. The two other passengers in the car, a 14-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, both from the RM of Ste. Anne, were transported to Winnipeg hospital where they remain in stable condition. The 34-year-old female driver of the pickup truck, also from the RM of Ste. Anne, suffered minor injuries, as did the passengers, a 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. All occupants were transported to local hospital and later released.
RCMP report that alcohol was not a factor in the collision and all occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. Road conditions do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
