On January 4, 2015, at approximately 7pm, Dauphin Municipal RCMP received a report that two inmates escaped from the Dauphin Correctional Centre.
Police say that the two men were being transported from one building to another when they scaled the fence and ran from the grounds. Patrols by Manitoba Corrections officers and RCMP officers were started immediately and approximately an hour later, both men were back in custody.
RCMP report that Skyler Walter Cook, 20, from the Shoal River First Nation, Manitoba and Courtney Shermen Miles, 23, from Shamattawa, Manitoba, have each been charged with escaping lawful custody and will be appearing in Dauphin Court. The inmates were originally being held on charges that included robbery, mischief and possession of a weapon.
