A Ritchot man has been charged in a fatal collision that occured in September of last year.

On September 25, 2008 shortly before 2:00 p.m., Oakbank RCMP were dispatched to a 2 vehicle collision involving a gravel truck and a pick-up truck at the intersection of Highway 15 and PR 207.

The two male drivers were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.  The elderly female passenger on the pick-up truck from Oakbank was pronounce dead at the scene.

Oakbank RCMP assisted with the RCMP “D” Division Reconstructionist continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

On May 27, 2009, following consultation with Manitoba Justice, 23-year-old Brandon Duaine RUPP of the R.M. of Ritchot was charged and subsequently arrested for dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing injury. He was released from custody on May 29th and will be appearing in Winnipeg court on June 24, 2009.

The 68-year-old woman from Oakbank, who was a passenger on board of the westbound pick-up truck driven by her husband on Highway 15, was killed in the collision, when the southbound gravel truck on PR 207, driven by RUPP, collided with the vehicle at the intersection. Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries at the time of the collision.
