On January 14, 2015, at approximately 1:30pm, Brandon RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 5.
Police say that a car travelling north on Highway 5 attempted to merge onto the eastbound Trans-Canada Highway, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle spun around and was facing the wrong way on the highway. The vehicle was then struck by an eastbound semi-truck.
The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Winnipeg man, along with a 49-year-old passenger from East St. Paul, were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck, a 66-year-old man from Coaldale, Alberta, was uninjured in the collision.
RCMP report that all those involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts. Road conditions are considered a contributing factor in this incident.
