On January 20, 2015, RCMP Major Crime Services and Peguis RCMP Detachment arrested three adults in relation to the murder of Kierra Electra Williams, a 21-month-old female from Peguis First Nation.
On July 17, 2014, Kierra was brought to Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, Manitoba, where she succumbed to trauma-related injuries.
RCMP report that Kierra’s mother, 36-year-old Vanessa Bushie, has been charged with second degree murder and failing to provide necessaries of life. Kierra’s father, 33-year-old Daniel Williams, has been charged with manslaughter and failing to provide necessaries of life. Kierra’s step-sister, 20-year-old Jasmine Bushie, has been charged with manslaughter and failing to provide necessaries of life. All of the accused are from Peguis First Nation.
