The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are kicking off their rural Winter Caravan tour in Steinbach on Tuesday, February 10th, bringing members of the team along with the Grey Cup to paint the town blue and gold. The Caravan moves to Niverville, February 11th and Morris and Rosenort, February 12th.
In addition to visiting local schools, players will be appearing at Blue Bomber themed luncheons in Steinbach, Niverville and Morris, hosted by the local Chamber of Commerce and featuring President & CEO Wade Miller as guest speaker.
“The Blue Bombers are Manitoba’s team and we are committed to community outreach beyond the perimeter,” says Miller. “As professional athletes, our players are proud to share their experiences with a focus on the importance of education, positive choices, and healthy living in their presentations to students.”
Featured players for the February Winter Caravan visits are: Maurice (Moe) Leggett, Dominic Picard, Rory Kohlert, and Chris Greaves, accompanied by popular Bomber mascots Buzz and Boomer. The Caravan will visit Steinbach Regional Secondary School, Stonybrook School, Mitchell Middle School, Niverville Collegiate, Niverville Elementary, Morris School and Rosenort School.
“With Manitoba hosting the 103rd Grey Cup game on November 29, the Blue Bombers Winter Caravan will help build excitement and renew the team’s rich history and tradition with Manitobans,” says Miller. “Bringing the Grey Cup along with the Caravan is a great way to strengthen our connection with Manitoba communities.”
