An Ontario man was recently sentenced in Steinbach Provincial Court in relation to an incident dating back to August, 2013.
On August 4, 2013, members of the Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 1 in the RM of Ste. Anne. Three occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, were seriously injured in this incident.
As a result of police investigation, Alex Beaulne, 21, of Sioux Lookout Ontario, was charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg%, resulting in bodily harm and possession of goods obtained by crime.
On January 15, 2015, Alex Beaulne admitted guilt to operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg% and taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. Beaulne was fined $4,404 and prohibited from driving in Canada for a period of 18 months.
