Steinbach City Council will be touring the PCU Centre in Portage La Prairie on Friday, bringing along some local team spirit. Council will be attending the Steinbach Pistons’ hockey game against the Portage Terriers taking place in the facility that evening.
“It’s really important for us to learn from the successes of other communities when it comes to rec facilities,” said Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen. “We want to know what has worked well and what they would do differently.”
The tour is part of Council’s information gathering for recreation facilities – knowledge that will be part of any future builds that take place in Steinbach.
“We are excited to see how the arena portion of the facility operates during a hockey game,” said Goertzen, adding, “It just so happens we’ll all be wearing Pistons jerseys for that part of the tour.”
Steinbach’s City Council will be hosted by Portage’s Mayor Ferris and members of council, who visited and toured Steinbach last year.
