Between February 24 and 28, 2015, the RCMP “D” Division Action Response Team (DART) was deployed in the RCMP East District, where multiple officers focused on traffic enforcement and outstanding warrants of arrest.
The Steinbach DART initiative consists of RCMP officers from across the province deployed from their regular duties. These officers were selected because of their background and experience in their current duties, including: traffic enforcement, general duty and criminal intelligence gathering.
During the deployment, a search warrant was executed on a residence in Steinbach, Manitoba. As a result of the search, police located and seized marijuana, marijuana trafficking paraphernalia, Canadian currency and cell phones.
Three adults and one youth, all from Steinbach, were arrested. Included in the arrest was 21-year-old Johnathon Joseph Day and 25-year-old James Steven Yaremus. Both are facing drug-related charges. Police say that a 21-year-old woman has not yet been formally charged, but was released on a Promise to Appear for possession of marijuana. As well, the youth was released from police custody and was not charged.
The “D” Division Action Response Team (DART) is a crime-reduction strategy that involves leveraging RCMP resources to address specific emerging public safety issues. The RCMP are committed to preserving the peace and creating a safe environment for our communities.
