Several police officers from across the division, as part of the RCMP “D” Division Action Response Team (DART) operation, conducted various patrols within the Steinbach RCMP Detachment area. Included in the area was the City of Steinbach, the RM of Hanover, the RM of La Broquerie, the RM of Ste. Anne, the RM of Piney and the RM of Reynolds.
Police say that as a result of the operation, 80 common offence notices under the Highway Traffic Act were given out, six warnings under the Highway Traffic Act were distributed, two persons were arrested on outstanding warrants, two persons were found to be breaching their conditions of release and one person was found to have alcohol in their system while operating a motor vehicle.
RCMP report that on March 1, 2015, while conducting patrols of the Frantz Motor Inn, police were attempting to identify a male who had made threatening remarks to the bar security. The male refused to cooperate with police at which point he was placed under arrest. During the arrest, the male assaulted the arresting police officer. Police were able to gain control of the male at which point he was arrested.
As a result of the incident Andrew Liam McGuirk, 19, of Steinbach, Manitoba, was arrested for assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and being disorderly in a license premises.
