On March 1, 2015 at approximately 1pm, Dakota Ojibway Police Service responded to a report of a possibly deceased person outside of the Ginew School in Roseau River First Nation.
Police say that initially the deceased was thought to be an adult male, however, it was later confirmed to be a 14-year-old male youth from Roseau River First Nation.
An autopsy was conducted in Winnipeg on March 2, 2015 and the death is being treated as a homicide.
RCMP “D” Division Serious Crime Unit and the RCMP Winnipeg Major Crime Unit are assisting in the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
