Steinbach RCMP are warning the public about a new computer scam that has popped up in the local area.

Police say that unsuspecting victims will notice that their computer may stop working and a phone number will be displayed requesting the computer owner to call to fix the problem. When the computer owner calls the phone number a unknown male requests money to repair the computer from remote access.

Steinbach RCMP are warning the public not to provide any banking information or payment for computer services over the telephone. If your computer freezes and stops working, enlist the services of a certified professional to repair the problem.
