On March 23, 2015, Island Lake RCMP responded to a firearms complaint in the community of St. Theresa Point, Manitoba.
Police say that a shooting incident has left one adult male injured. The 26-year-old victim, from St. Theresa Point, was rushed to the local Nursing Station and then transported to Winnipeg hospital. He remains in stable condition.
RCMP have arrested two males. 24-year-old Derek Mondo from Winnipeg has been charged with numerous charges under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. A 16-year-old youth, from the RM of MacDonald, has also been charged. Police are still looking for Brent McPherson, 23, of Winnipeg in relation to this incident.
Police believe that the shooting is drug related. Cocaine, marijuana and oxycodone have been seized by police as part of the ongoing investigation.
