Steinbach’s newspaper, The Carillon, has been awarded four national newspaper awards in the 2015 Canadian Community Newspapers Awards competition.
The Carillon was recognized with a first place award for the best editorial page in its circulation class, one of the competition’s general excellence categories.
Staff reporter Ian Froese collected a second place award in the best feature photo category for his efforts capturing the chuckwagon competition at the Morris Stampede.
The newspaper also garnered second place honours for its quarterly agriculture supplement, Agriculture Now, and a third place award in the best holiday edition category for its Christmas issue.
The Canadian Community Newspapers Awards program celebrates the very best in community publishing from across the country. Newspapers compete against each other in similar circulation classes and are judged by a panel of industry experts. With a diverse range of awards categories – covering writing, photography and multimedia – the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards offer learning opportunities for publications of all shapes and sizes.
