Due to a number of complaints from the public regarding motorists speeding on Centre Street South in Mitchell, Steinbach RCMP conducted speed enforcement in the area where the speed zone is posted at 70 km/hr.
RCMP report that on Saturday April 4, 2015, six motorists were issued traffic offenses for speeding violations.
Police say that four of the offenders were traveling between 20 and 21 km/hr over the posted limit. One was traveling 40 km/hr over the posted limit. Another driver, a 17-year-old male, was charged with speeding. He was traveling at 142 km/hr in the posted 70 km/hr zone. The driver was also issued an offence notice for imprudent driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
