On April 18, 2015, just after 4am, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a call that a firearm had been discharged.
Police say that a female homeowner had answered banging on her door. When she opened the door, four males were there demanding to speak to someone they believed to be inside the residence. One male had a firearm, pointed at the ground and discharged. When officers arrived on scene, the suspects had fled.
Police Dog Services were called in to assist with the search. Three males were apprehended shortly after the incident occurred and were in custody by 5:45am. One male is still wanted by police.
RCMP report that Justin White, 23, along with two 17-year-old male youths, all of Portage, are in custody charged with pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm. One of the youths is also charged with breaching an undertaking.
