Large amount of cannabis marijuana seized at local drug bust.
On June 11, 2009 at about 10:30 a.m., Steinbach RCMP executed a drug search warrant at a residence near Marchand, Manitoba in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie.
Upon executing the warrant, RCMP located and seized a large amount of cannabis marijuana. Approximately 700 cannabis marijuana plants and 36 pounds of harvested marijuana were seized with an estimated street value of $800,000.
RCMP have arrested and charged 44 year old Jian Hui Liu of Winnipeg, Manitoba for cultivation of cannabis marijuana, production of cannabis marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and theft of electricity. Jian Hui Liu has been released from custody and ordered to attend Steinbach provincial court on July 9th, 2009.
In the last two months, Steinbach RCMP have dismantled three large marihuana grow operations within their detachment area.
