On May 5, 2015, at approximately 4pm, Russell, Roblin and Rossburn RCMP responded to a house fire in the Village of Binscarth, Manitoba. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the house fully engulfed in flames with local fire departments battling the blaze.
Due to the strong north winds and close proximity, RCMP contacted school officials to have the school evacuated and all evening activities cancelled. Neighbouring residences were also evacuated until the fire was brought under control. No other properties sustained any damages.
Police say that the fire was out at approximately 6:30pm. Police also noted that there were no people in the house at the time of the fire and that no injuries were reported.
RCMP report that the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time. The Office of the Fire Commissioner is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
