On May 9, 2015, at approximately 12:23pm, Gypsumville RCMP responded to a report of a bear macing at a residence in Fairford First Nation, Manitoba. As officers were responding, another call came in reporting that a shooting had occurred at the same location.
Police say that a 21-year-old man was sprayed with bear mace, while another man, 34-years-old, suffered a lower body gunshot wound. The 34-year-old man was transported to local hospital where he was treated and released. Another man, 23 years of age, was shot at, but was uninjured.
RCMP report that the suspects had fled by the time officers arrived on scene. Officers from Ashern, Lundar and Police Dog Services out of Dauphin also attended to assist In locating the suspects. At approximately 2:13pm, three males from Fairford First Nation, ages 25, 18 and 16, were apprehended by RCMP.
All suspects remain in custody at the current time as the investigation continues. Charges are pending in the matter. Police also note that the weapons were located as well as bullet casings.
