On May 21, 2015, at approximately 3:30pm, Moose Lake RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Provincial Road 384, approximately 32 km west of Moose Lake, Manitoba.
When officers arrived on scene, a minivan was in the ditch on the south side of the roadway, resting on its roof. It appeared the van had flipped more than once. Two males had been ejected from the vehicle.
Police say that one male, 52, was pronounced deceased on scene. The other male, 26, was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in stable condition. Two other occupants of the vehicle, a 24-year-old male and a 23-year-old female had been transported to hospital by passerby before police arrived on scene. The male was released from hospital and the female remained in hospital in stable condition. All occupants of the vehicle were from Moose Lake.
RCMP report speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision and at least two of the occupants in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
