On May 21, 2015 a vehicle was stopped on Highway 6 for a routine verification. The driver advised the officer that there was liquor in the vehicle that belonged to his passenger. A search of the passenger located small amounts of cocaine and marijuana, both packaged for sale. A subsequent search of the vehicle also yielded 24 bottles of liquor.
Ten days later, on Highway 373, another vehicle was stopped by officers for speeding. During the course of the vehicle stop, the passenger told officers that he was transporting liquor.
RCMP report that in the first incident, 22-year-old Ray Ross was arrested and is facing numerous charges including transporting liquor to where it may not lawfully be kept. All items were destined for Cross Lake, a dry reserve. In the second incident, 33-year-old John George Queskekapow was arrested and is facing numerous liquor-transportation related charges. All items were destined for Norway House, a dry reserve.
