Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation reports the province will invest $37 million on three highway improvement projects that started this week, as part of the province’s $5.5-billion, five-year core infrastructure plan.
This week’s projects include:
Eastern Region
- Structure replacement on PTH 12 over the Seine River Diversion on the northbound lanes. This $7.5-million project is being undertaken by PCL Construction, is expected to be completed by the end of fall 2015, weather permitting, and create the equivalent of 85 direct and indirect jobs. There is a detour for this work.
- Structure rehabilitation on PTH 8 at the PTH 101 overpass. This $12.5-million project is being undertaken by Graham Construction, is expected to be completed by the end of fall 2016, weather permitting, and create the equivalent of 142 direct and indirect jobs. There will be a detour for this work.
South Central Region
- Paving of 20 kilometres on the eastbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway from one km west of PTH 13 to PR 248. This $17-million project is being undertaken Mulder Construction and Materials Ltd. and is expected to be completed by the end of fall 2015, weather permitting, and create the equivalent of 193 direct and indirect jobs. There will be a detour for this work.
The annual road repair season is underway and motorists are reminded to slow down and drive safely when they see constructions signs and flaggers at the roadside. Drivers are required to reduce speeds to specific limits in construction zones under the Highway Traffic Act.
