Steinbach RCMP want to remind motorists to pay attention to the reduced speed limits in designated construction zones. As the summer months are approaching more road construction will be present.
Steinbach RCMP have received complaints of motorists exceeding the speed limit in the designated construction zone on Highway 12 between Ste. Anne and Highway 1. This area is under construction and has been changed to two way traffic. The speed limit in this area has been reduced to 80 km/h.
If you are caught speeding in a designated construction zone the fine is double and your license will be effected by demerits. As an example, a motorist who is caught traveling at 15 kms over the posted speed limit in a designated construction zone will face a fine of approximately $500.
