On June 4, 2015, just before 6:30pm, Island Lake RCMP received a report of a possible child drowning in St. Theresa Point, Manitoba.
When officers arrived on scene, the local Band Constable, who is also a trained search and rescue diver, had already located the body of an eight-year-old boy and brought it to the surface.
Police investigation shows that a group of children from the community, all around seven and eight years old, were playing on a rope swing, when the boy slipped and fell into the water. He was unable to get back to shore.
The investigation is ongoing, but no charges are expected.
