Fresh off of his race win just one week ago in Hockenheim, Germany, Niverville native David Richert was able to finish 2nd in this past weekend’s FIA CEZ Championship race at Tor Poznan circuit in Poland. It was another great “one-two” race result for Inter Europol Competition as Richert’s teammate, Jakub Smiechowski, claimed top prize.
The Polish circuit of Tor Poznan, located immediately next to the city’s major airport, has some outdated facilities but the circuit itself provided a lot of action throughout the weekend. It was a struggle for grip early on as a mix of rain and dry weather made tire choice difficult, but the clouds peeled back and bright sunshine spilled out across the circuit to create perfect conditions by Sunday’s race.
Richert managed to get a great launch as the start lights went out and then kept up the pace throughout the 25 minute race distance, crossing the finish line with his 2nd podium result in as many weekends.
The race circuit at Poznan has an interesting set up, it was a little funny the first time to be coming around the last corner onto the front straight and see a huge jumbo jet flying at you from the airport, but it’s a nice circuit to drive on. I am really happy with having another good result here this weekend, I don’t think winning a trophy and bottle of champagne is something that can ever get old. ~ David Richert
Richert’s next race will be back in the ultra-competitive Northern European Cup as the championship will resume from July 22-25 at Spa-Francorchamps after a short mid-summer break in the schedule.
