On August 7, 2015, just before 7am, Carman RCMP officers were called to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highway 14, approximately four miles east of Plum Coulee.
Police say that initial investigation revealed that a car traveling east on Highway 14 was attempting to pass two vehicles when the driver realized that an oncoming vehicle was too close to complete the passing. Both vehicles veered in the same direction in an attempt to avoid the impact but collided.
The driver of the oncoming vehicle, an adult male, was transported to hospital by ambulance and is presently in stable condition. The driver of the passing vehicle, a 36 year-old Winkler man succumbed to his injuries.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
