On September 23, 2015, at approximately 1:45pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to a collision involving a southbound car and a northbound pickup truck near the intersection of 68 Road North and Road 39 West in Portage la Prairie.
Officers and emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found both vehicles with front end damage.The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old male, along with a 40-year-old female passenger, both from Sandy Bay First Nation, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old male from Portage la Prairie was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His 17-year-old female passenger was uninjured.
RCMP report that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision. An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
