During the early morning hours of September 27, 2015, the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit provided assistance to Russell and Rossburn RCMP regarding allegations of a minor being lured over the internet for sexual purposes. The two detachments were investigating a complaint of indecent text messaging between an adult male and a male youth.
Police say that on October 8, 2015, with the assistance of Winnipeg Police Service ICE Unit and the RCMP Integrated Tech Crime Unit, a 49-year-old Winnipeg man was arrested and has been charged with two counts of luring, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of making child pornography.
RCMP report that the man has since been released from custody under strict conditions in order to ensure public safety.
