On November 14, 2015, at approximately 5pm, officers from the Lac du Bonnet, Whitemouth and Pinawa RCMP were called to assist emergency personnel at a residence near Pihulak Drive in the RM of Lac du Bonnet.
Upon arrival, officers detected a strong odour of marijuana and also observed a quantity of the same drug in plain view in the kitchen area.
Officers began to search the property after a warrant was granted. In total 110 plants were seized as well as a large quantity of dried marijuana. A large number of firearms, including a loaded revolver, were located throughout the residence and seized as part of the investigation.
RCMP report that a 36-year-old RM of Lac du Bonnet man was arrested without incident and is facing charges for the cultivation and possession of marijuana, unsafe storage of firearms and possession of an unregistered hand gun.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner was consulted and also attended the residence. Due to numerous electrical issues, the residence was condemned and locked.
Manitoba Conservation was also contacted by the RCMP as a white tail dear hide and head was found on the lawn next to the residence. Manitoba Conservation Officers attended the location and conducted a separate investigation to several possible wildlife offences. The investigation continues.
