An eastbound 1999 Infiniti G20 driven by a 22 year-old Brandon, Manitoba man collided with an eastbound Ford F250 pickup truck towing a piece of farm equipment. The truck appeared to have suffered mechanical problems and was pulled over on the side of the road, abandoned, at the time of the collision.
The driver and sole occupant of the Infiniti was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the abandoned pickup truck was not present at the time of the collision.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Alcohol is not considered a factor at this time, the driver was wearing a seat belt. The investigation is being conducted by Russell RCMP Detachment in conjunction with RCMP traffic collision analysts.
