In July of 2015, the Steinbach RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) unit, with the assistance of the Altona Police Service, commenced an investigation into the methamphetamine trade in the Southeast part of the Province.
On December 3, 2015, Project Doorman was concluded after the last search warrant was executed by investigators.
Project Doorman involved several different police units and sections and led to search warrants on three residences that took place in Altona, Morris and Steinbach. An undisclosed amount of methamphetamine was seized from various individuals and locations.
RCMP report that 11 people were arrested from across Southeastern Manitoba for methamphetamine trafficking offences. Arrested in this investigation was Tami Renz, Frank Hargreaves, Tyler Myska, Jordan Friesen and Kelly Reimer from Steinbach, Stephen Briggs and Keira Ball from Altona, Rachel Jacques from Emerson, Cornelius Thiessen from Winkler, Timothy Jacques from Richer and Jordon Demare from Morris.
All the accused, with the exception of Ball, Friesen and Demare, remain in custody.
Police have also charged various other individuals for drug possession and related offences during the course of the investigation. Drug use and trafficking have become an increasing concern for law enforcement throughout the Southeastern part of the province. Both the Steinbach RCMP and the Altona Police Service are committed to combating this issue in an effort to increase the safety of the communities they serve.
