On December 29, 2015, shortly before 7am, officers from the Oxford House RCMP detachment were called to a residential fire in Oxford House.
The initial police investigation has confirmed that the fire has claimed the lives of three residents of Oxford House. The investigation is ongoing to establish and confirm the identity of the deceased.
“Our officers and our partners have been engaged in the community to ensure that everyone is kept appraised of any updates during the investigation of this tragic incident,” said Sgt. Bert Paquet of the Manitoba RCMP. “As we continue to investigate, our prayers go out to the Oxford House community and the families affected.”
The RCMP Forensic Identification Section in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Commissioner are continuing the investigation. At this point, foul play is not suspected.
